I love road trips. But my nose is always stuck in the guide book or on a map. Too many times I've screeched at my husband: "That's the waterfall! Turn left now!"

Perhaps Rick Bulich, of Banff, was going deaf in the right ear too. His company came up with an app to solve that.

Bulich and his team of travel professionals at GyPSy Guide have created audio tours for the Rocky Mountains, southern Alberta and Whistler, B.C. Other tours include Las Vegas, Maui, Oahu, Florida and Arches National Park in Utah, with more on the way. I've listened to the tours though Alberta, the Rockies and Maui and am amazed at what I learned and saw.

Using free GPS satellite technology and not your data or cell plans, the app or rental PDA knows where you are and in which direction you're headed. The commentary provides fun, interesting and factual information. And it calmly warns you with plenty of time on when and where to stop. It's like having a local tour guide in the car.
