I have a 2009 Toyota Venza and with the rear windows partially down I experience wind wobble or buffeting when travelling between 80 & 100 km/hr.
Is this normal? Can anything be done about this?
With the wrong combination of windows rolled down, you’ll get wind buffeting in most vehicles. What’s worse is that not all vehicles exhibit this phenomenon at the same speed; it’s all over the map. This is yet another reason to order a Family truckster with air-conditioning.
In all the vehicles I’ve driven that have four doors and rear windows that roll down, I’ve yet to find one that did not buffet. Like you, I find it very annoying – but my son loves this phenomenon. He calls it a helicopter landing. When he’s in the back seat with his buddies, they purposely roll the windows down for maximum effect – drives me nuts!
The short answers to your questions Al is: yes & no. This is normal and all that can be done is to close the windows.
Sorry Al, I know that wasn’t the answer you were looking for.
