In Pictures: Latest Lamborghini designed for speed
Lamborghini has just unveiled its Huracán LP 610-4, replacing the Gallardo. Made from carbon-fibre and aluminum, the Italian performance car has a top speed of more than 325 km/h and a 0-100 km time of 3.2, making it a competitor to Ferrari’s new 458 Speciale. Like most Lamborghinis, the Huracán takes its name from bullfighting. The fighting bull Huracán was known for courage and a strong sense of attack, says Lamborghini. Even Lamborghini is considering fuel economy now. This new model has a combined EU fuel economy of 12.5 litres/100 km, using Stop and Start technology for an improvement over its predecessor’s rating of 20.4 city/9.4 highway. The discontinued Gallardo, the company's most popular car, had sales of 14,022 cars in its 10-year span. It sold for $237,000 (U.S.). Pricing for the Huracán has not yet been released.

The Huracán's V-10 engine produces 610 horsepower. 0-100 km/h acceleration is 3.2 seconds, and the top speed is over 325 km/h.
Its world premiere will take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 2014.
The company's press release states that "The lateral windows come together to create a hexagonal form inserted like a glass jewel in the car’s profile."
A 12.3-inch colour instrument panel delivers all car information to the driver, from rev counter to navigation maps and infotainment functions.
Made of carbon and aluminum, the chassis weighs 1,422 kg (dry), giving the car a power-to-weight ratio of just 2.33 kilograms per horse power.
The new Huracán will have better fuel economy than its predecessor, the Gallardo. It has a 5.2 liter V10 engine, and its combined EU consumption figures are 12.5 liters per 100 km thanks in part to Start & Stop technology.
Headlights and all other lights "feature state-of-the-art LED technology" as standard equipment.
With a 7-speed dual clutch transmission ‘‘Lamborghini Doppia Frizione’’ (LDF) and fully electronically controlled four-wheel drive system, the car's top speed is over 325 km/h. Its 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 3.2 seconds, and it will reach 200 km/h in 9.9 seconds.
Three driving modes (STRADA, SPORT and CORSA) can be selected with a selector switch on the steering wheel, from traction-oriented on the road to extreme performance on the race track.
The Huracán is produced at the Automobili Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese on an entirely newly-equipped production line, says Lamborghini in a release today.
Nappa leather and Alcantara are available in several colours.
Delivery to the first customers is planned for spring 2014.
