In photos: Extremely rare and rather strange Ford Ranger convertible for sale
A pickup truck isn't exactly the ideal convertible but, in 1991, the American Sunroof Company commissioned by Ford transformed a limited number of Rangers. Less than two dozen were produced, making the SkyRanger extremely rare. Now one is for sale on eBay and that rarity may push the price. Under the hood, it features a 4.0-litre V-6 engine with a five-speed manual gearbox. It comes with an aero-styled body kit, rear wing, canvas roof and four-wheel drive. The ad says the truck only less than 7,300 miles on it and "has a nice rumble in the exhaust which everybody likes." Almost 100 people are watching the online auction, however, there are so far no bids and the starting bid is listed at $29,000. The starting price for the base model 1991 Ranger as a hard top in 1991 was less than $9,000, according to CarGurus. Ford unveiled a new rugged-looking Ranger earlier this year that will be available in 180 markets, but not Canada.
