The snow has started to fly in parts of Canada – ugh, is winter really here? – which has many buyers looking to score an all-weather, all-wheel-drive (AWD) ride. At the right price, of course.
As it happens, a broad range of auto makers are offering discounts on vehicles with excellent AWD systems – or for our purposes, the full-time four-wheel-drive F-Series. The truth is, Audi, Subaru and Mercedes-Benz have all made AWD a core brand element and the systems in their respective vehicles are effective and reliable right across the board.
That being the case, it's interesting to see combined discounts exceed $3,000 on the 2015 Subaru Outback. With its horizontally or boxer engine and low centre of gravity, the Outback is well suited to handle poor weather conditions. The story is similar for the Audi A3, with its quattro AWD system, and the Mercedes-Benz C350 coupe with 4MATIC.
The savvy buyer will find more than $3,000 in combined discounts on the Audi and more than $5,000 on the Benz. And if it's a pickup you're looking for, the combined discounts on the Ford could reach more than $8,000. Saving substantial money on an all-weather ride has the potential to take some of the sting out of the grim road conditions.
