Each year around this time, the market research firm J.D. Power and Associates shares the results of a so-called "things-gone-right" study – the APEAL study (Automotive Performance Execution and Layout).
For 2015, Porsche won again, for the 11th straight year. Porsche owners say they are the most gratified to own and drive their cars. Not to be too cute, but you would hope so. Porsches are not exactly falling off the shelves at the dollar store.
Porsche doesn't need to do much sweetening to makes deals on its latest models. And that holds true for many other APEAL-ing vehicles. But not all.
Quite a few category winners in the 2015 APEAL study are on offer with discounts of $10,000 or more. Take Ford's F-150 pickup. A $41,299 XLT SuperCab is wearing a $10,212 price reduction in part thanks to Ford Canada's latest Employee Pricing promotion.
Other popular and gratifying APEAL category winners we found wearing tasty discounts: BMW's 428i xDrive Gran Coupe (more than $4,500 in combined sales sweeteners); Mazda's CX-5 GS AWD (nearly $3,000 in discounts); and Audi's A3 2.0 TFSI (more than $4,000 combined).
In a market as competitive as Canada's, even some of the most loved vehicles need the sparkle of a good deal to clinch a sale.
