The Mazda6, last year’s winner of the Canadian Car of the Year award.

Finalists in each of the 15 categories competing for the 2014 Canadian Car of the Year awards were announced on Tuesday.

Each of the finalists emerged from judging at the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) TestFest, and has to be a vehicle that is a "brand-new or significantly changed vehicle model."

The winner in each category will be announced on Dec. 2, and the champion will be crowned prior to the start of media previews at Canadian International Auto Show Feb. 12 in Toronto. The Mazda6 won the top prize last year.
