Toyota earned the title for Best Value Passenger Vehicle Brand while Lexus took top spot for luxury brand and Ram for truck brand in the 2015 Vincentric Best Value in Canada Awards. In addition to brands, Vincentric, an auto data analysis firm that specializes in lifecycle cost measurement, separates vehicles into dozens of segments and announced a winner for each. Toyota won more categories than any other company with 12 top places. Volkswagen vehicles won seven awards. Vincentric measures cost-of-ownership by using eight indicators: depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost and repairs. Costs are based on five years of ownership and are calculated in all 10 provinces and at different amounts of annual driving distance. “Manufacturers are increasingly monitoring and managing total cost of ownership to better compete with their rivals while offering significant choices and value for consumers,” said Vincentric president David Wurster.
