Nissan brings Gran Turismo video game car to life Add to ...

Originally a “dream project” for young designers at Nissan, and then a virtual model for the PlayStation video game Gran Turismo 6, the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo supercar has now come to life.

Designers from Nissan Design Europe have turned the “perfect supercar” into a real concept car with engineering help from the company’s team in Japan, said the company in a press release.

The 2+2 virtual supercar will have a four-wheel drive chassis and uses air flow management from race technology.

Currently the only physical representation of the car, says Nissan, the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo was built from scratch using “design cues” from current performance models, but in “a futuristic way.”

The physical concept car will be shown for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 26. The virtual version will be available to gamers for downloading next month.

Gran Turismo’s makers have asked 28 manufacturers to create their version of a dream car to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the popular video game.
