Four cars with solid incentives for buyers Add to ...

If you do some digging you’ll find some 7,000 reasons why sales of the Ford Ranger compact pickup were up 35 per cent in October.

Ford of Canada has a whopping $6,000 factory-to-dealer incentive in play. It can be combined with the Recycle Your Ride promotion which is worth anther G-note ($1,000) for qualified buyers. Those two sales sweeteners can be “stacked” with 3.99 per cent financing for five years, too.

The Ranger won’t be around much longer; Ford is phasing out the North American version. A global version – for sale in markets around the world other than North America – is hitting showrooms and has already earned a five-star crash test rating in Europe. Nonetheless, when the Ranger goes away here it will be disappear – at least until Ford decides it’s worth selling a true compact truck here in Canada and the United States.

So if you want a Ranger you’ll need to act soon and if you do, Ford of Canada has a deal.

At Kia, sales of the Sportage compact utility were up nearly 79 per cent last month. As of this writing, Kia Canada had put nearly $5,000 in incentives on certain versions of the Sportage – for qualified buyers.

Another hot seller in October was Toyota’s Highlander crossover utility vehicle. Sure enough, Toyota Canada has a $1,500 cash incentive waiting for buyers who know how to nail a deal.

And then there’s the Scion xD compact wagon. Sales were up 192 per cent in October. If you expected to find some factory support, you’d be correct: 0.0 per cent financing for three years and a $500 cash incentive for new graduates.
