Bombardier Transportation BBD.B-T has won a contract from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd of India for an additional 74 of its MOVIA metro cars.
The Quebec-based company announced today that the contract is valued at approximately $101-million (U.S.) and includes an option of a further 40 cars.
It says delivery will follow the completion of existing contracts and is expected to end in 2011.
Bombardier signed its first contract with Delhi Metro Rail in 2007, set up its manufacturing plant in Savli, Gujarat in 2008 and began producing metro cars in 2009.
More than 160 MOVIA cars are currently operating in Delhi's metro network.
