Bombardier Transportation says it has secured an order for 25 locomotives from the Hungarian State Railway, in a contract worth $112-million (U.S.).
The agreement with the Berlin-based division of the train and plane maker also includes an option for an additional 25 of the TRAXX P 160 AC locomotives, Montreal-based Bombardier said.
Final assembly of the locomotives will be completed in Kassel, Germany, with delivery of the first train slated for spring 2011.
Car bodies will be produced at Bombardier's site in Wroclaw, Poland, the bogies in Siegen, Germany and the bogie frames at the Hungarian site of Matranovak. The Mannheim and Hennigsdorf sites, in Germany, will supply the propulsion and controls technology as well as the propulsion equipment.
