Canadian National Railway Co. says a three-year contract covering 210 train dispatchers in Canada has been ratified by members of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference.

CN chief operating officer Keith Creel says the agreement, reached without assistance by intermediaries, demonstrates the strong working relationship between the company and union.

About 4,800 members of the same union are on strike at CN’s rival, Canadian Pacific Ltd. .

Talks between CP and the Teamsters broke down on the weekend, despite assistance from a federal mediator, setting the stage for the likely introduction of back-to-work legislation in Parliament.
