Bottles of Cott ginger ale move down the bottling line a the company's plant in Mississauga

The leading supplier of store-brand beverages, Cott Corp. , says it had a profitable fourth quarter as revenue increased.

Cott's profit was $14-million (U.S.) in the three months ended Jan. 2, a turnaround from the $12.1-million loss in the comparable quarter.

Revenue improved by 3.9 per cent to $386-million, from $371.4-million in the quarter ended Dec. 27, 2008.

Cott's chief executive officer, Jerry Fowden, says the fourth quarter continued a trend of improved results and helped the company achieve an "excellent" year.

The company employs 2,800 people and has bottling plants in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Mexico.

Its non-alcoholic beverage concentrates are sold in more than 50 countries.
