Descartes Systems Group has acquired GeoMicro Inc., a California-based company that provides advanced geographic information systems and navigation products.

Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed in Monday's announcement.

GeoMicro provides advanced routing, navigation and high-performance map displays that will complement the Descartes logistics system.

Waterloo, Ont.-based Descartes provides a global system that trucking, shipping and air freight carriers use to plan their pickups, trips and deliveries.

Descartes says the California-based company helps transport companies precisely locate their vehicles in motion and help them navigate on a turn-by-turn basis.
