Fund Objectives

The investment objective of the fund is to achieve long-term growth of capital primarily through direct and indirect exposure to precious metals consisting primarily of gold and to a lesser extent silver platinum, palladium and rhodium. The manager uses a bottom-up growth all-cap approach reputed for finding successful companies early in their growth cycle. The manager likes to buy when the market does not currently recognize the earnings or production growth potential or competitive advantages of a company.

Robert Lyon joined AGF in 2008 assuming lead management responsibilities for AGF Canadian Resources Fund, AGF Global Resources Class and AGF Precious Metals Fund. Robert has nearly 20 years of investment industry experience with close to a decade of direct lead experience managing resource-related mutual funds. Prior to his most recent role as Vice-President and Director of Proprietary Trading at TD Newcrest, Robert served as Vice-President of Portfolio Management with two major Canadian mutual fund companies. In addition to his portfolio management experience, his previous responsibilities include several years in analytical roles researching the oil and gas, base metal and precious metal sectors, and making investment recommendations appropriate for retail and institutional clients. A CFA charterholder, Robert also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University.

Ani Markova is the co-manager for AGF Precious Metals Fund. She is also responsible for covering the Industrials sector for the North American equity research team. Before joining AGF, Ani worked as a research associate for a major Canadian investment firm and was an associate analyst for a major Canadian bank covering merchandising and consumer products. Ani has a BA in Management and Marketing from Mount Vernon College in Washington D.C. She earned her MBA in International Business and Finance from George Washington University in Washington D.C. and she also has her Licensed International Financial Analyst and Canadian Investment Management designations. Ani is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Toronto CFA Society.
