Featured below are 15 companies that have experienced recent insider buying activity in the public market through their direct and indirect ownerships.

Keep in mind, when looking at transaction activities by insiders, purchasing activity may reflect perceived value in a security. I tend to put great weight on insider transaction activities when I see multiple insiders buying shares of a company.

AGT Food & Ingredients Inc. (AGT-T)

Board member Greg Stewart purchased 1,000 shares at a price of $29.98 per share on April 5, and 1,000 shares at $31.64 per share on March 24. Worthy of mention is a sale that occurred last month. In late March, Gaetan Bourassa, the chief operating officer, exercised his options and sold the corresponding number of shares, 25,000 shares, at a price of $30.0792 per share on March 24.

Bonavista Energy Corp. (BNP-T)

President and chief executive officer Jason Skehar purchased 11,000 shares at a price of $3.45 per share on April 3. In addition, board member Robert Phillips bought 21,000 shares at a price of $3.167 per share on March 23.

Canfor Corp. (CFP-T)

Board member James Pattison, with an ownership position in excess of 10 per cent, accumulated half a million shares at a price of $17.41 per share on March 23.

Cenovus Energy Inc. (CVE-T)

Executive vice-president of environment, corporate affairs, legal and general counsel Al Reid bought 9,800 shares at a price of $15.059 per share on April 5. Two days prior, board member Richard Marcogliese purchased 5,000 shares.

Detour Gold Corp. (DGC-T)

On the final trading day of March, chief operating officer Pierre Beaudoin bought 5,000 shares at a price of $14.88 per share. That same day, Jean François Métail, the vice-president of mineral resource management, purchased 3,000 shares at a price of $15.2416 per share.

Last week, we reported that chief financial officer James Mavor bought 10,000 shares at a price of $15.27 per share on March 30. The prior day, Pierre Beaudoin added 10,000 shares to his portfolio at a price of $15.50 per share.

Equitable Group Inc. (EQB-T)

Board member Kishore Kapoor accumulated 1,425 shares at a price of $70.01 per share on March 31.

Exeter Resource Corp. (XRC-T)

Hedge fund manager Sun Valley Gold LLC, with over a 10-per-cent ownership position, is steadily adding shares to its client accounts, accumulating 170,000 shares on April 4 at a price of $2.38 per share, purchasing 1.65-million shares the prior day, and buying 1 million shares at a price of $2.35 per share on March 30.

Husky Energy Inc. (HSE-T)

President and chief executive officer Robert Peabody bought 7,000 shares on March 31. As well, chief operating officer Rob Symonds made a small purchase, acquiring 355 shares at a price of $15.61 per share on March 30.

Major Drilling Group International Inc. (MDI-T)

Chairman of the board of directors David Tennant continues to accumulate shares, buying 5,000 shares on March 31, purchasing 6,000 shares on March 30, and buying 4,000 shares on March 29.

Martinrea International Inc. (MRE-T)

President and chief executive officer Pat D'Eramo bought 11,900 shares on March 30, and David Rashid, the executive vice-president of fluids, purchased 9,000 shares at a price of $10.32 per share on March 31.

Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD-T)

Bottin (International) Investments Ltd., with over a 10-per-cent ownership position, purchased 809,500 shares on April 3, in addition to its acquisition of 252,300 shares on March 31, bringing its ownership position up to over 22-million shares. In addition, in a relatively small transaction, the firm's vice-president of diamond marketing Reid Mackie accumulated 10,000 shares on the final trading day in March at a price of $4.59 per share.

RMP Energy Inc. (RMP-T)

Chairman of the board of directors Josh Young continued his buying spree, accumulating 549,100 shares on April 3, purchasing 350,000 shares on March 31, buying 100,000 shares on March 28, and accumulating 70,000 shares on March 27.

Last week, we reported that Mr. Young bought 576,500 shares on March 24, purchased 70,000 shares at a price of 65 cents per share on March 27, and accumulated 100,000 shares at 68 cents per share on March 28.

Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure Ltd. (TWM-X)

President and chief executive officer Joel MacLeod purchased 55,000 shares at a price of $1.4543 per share on April 5, bought 51,000 shares at a price of $1.461 per share on April 4, and accumulated 50,000 shares at a price of $1.478 per share on April 3. In addition, board member David Wright bought 25,000 shares on April 4, and fellow board member, Doug Fraser, purchased 50,000 shares at a price of $1.49 per share that same day.

TransCanada Corp. (TRP-T)

Francois Poirier, executive vice-president of strategy and corporate development, bought 10,000 shares at a price of $60.92 per share on April 3. That same day, Charles Moran, the company's senior vice-president of government relations, communications, and community relations, acquired 1,600 shares. In a relative small transaction, Wendy Hanrahan, the executive vice-president of corporate services, accumulated 405 shares on April 6.

Westshore Terminals Investment Corp. (WTE-T)

On March 31, James Pattison, with over a 10-per-cent ownership position, purchased 75,000 shares at a price of $26.20 on the final trading day.
