Shares of General Motors Corp. jumped 7.3 per cent to $35 (U.S.) before the opening bell Tuesday after the auto maker swung to a profit in the second quarter amid strength in its international operations and momentum in its core North America automotive unit. Excluding charges, GM's operating profit was $2.48 a share, compared with Thomson First Call consensus of $1.13.
