Monday Sept. 22

Euro zone releases consumer confidence for September.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. releases existing home sales data for August. Consensus is for a 1 per cent rise to an annual rate of 5.20 million.

Earnings today include: AutoZone.

(1245 p.m. ET) Bank of Canada Senior Deputy Governor Wilkins speaks to the CFA Society Toronto on "The New Economic Reality for Canada Emerging in the Wake of the Great Recession and What it Means for Monetary Policy."

Tuesday Sept. 23

HSBC Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index for China is released. The market is expecting a reading of 50.0, down from 50.2 in August.

Euro zone releases Purchasing Managers' indexes for September and France releases latest reading on second-quarter GDP.

(830 a.m. ET) Canada releases retail sales for July. The market expects a 0.4 per cent rise from June, when it rose 1.1 per cent. Excluding autos, sales are expected to contract 0.2 per cent.

(9 a.m. ET) U.S. releases the FHFA House Price Index. Consensus is for a 4.8 per cent year over year rise.

(945 a.m. ET) U.S. Markit Flash Manufacturing PMI for September.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. Richmond Fed Manufacturing Index.

Earnings today include Bed Bath & Beyond; Carnival; Progress Software.

Wednesday Sept. 24

Japan's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index.

Germany releases the Ifo survey of business conditions.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. new home sales for August. Consensus is for a 4.4 per cent rise to an annualized rate of 430,000.

Earnings today include: AGF Management; Accenture; H.B. Fuller; KB Home; Vail Resorts; Worthington Industries.

(250 p.m. ET) Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Lane speaks in Ottawa.

Thursday Sept. 25

Euro zone releases money supply statistics, while Italy reports on July retail sales.

(830 a.m. ET) Canada releases survey of employment, payrolls and hours for July.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. releases initial jobless claims for last week, forecast to climb by 19,000 to 299,000.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. releases durable goods orders for August. They are forecast to drop 17.7 per cent, but rise 0.7 per cent excluding the transportation sector, which includes Boeing orders.

Earnings today include: Vecima Networks; Nike; Gold Fields.

Friday Sept. 26

Japan releases August inflation numbers, forecast to rise 3.3 per cent year over year.

Germany releases consumer confidence numbers, while the U.K. reports on nationwide house prices.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. releases GDP for the second quarter. This final reading is expected to show the economy grew at an annualized rate of 4.6 per cent, up from the last projection of 4.2 per cent. The economy contracted 2.1 per cent in the first quarter.

(955 a.m. ET) U.S. releases the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment index, forecast at 85.0.

Ottawa releases its latest budget statistics.

Earnings today include: BlackBerry. The Street expects a loss of 16 cents a share.
