Alacer Gold Corp. said its proposed expansion of a gold mine in Turkey has received approval from the country's Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. "The EIA approval is further evidence that the Sulfide Project is fully on track and we can now begin the process of securing the necessary land use permits," said chief executive officer Rod Antal. "In parallel with the land use permitting process, we continue to advance basic engineering and de-risking efforts."

Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. said it plans to raise $15.5-million through a private placement of 36-million special warrants at a 19 per cent discount to the stock's last closing price. Roughly one-quarter of the special warrants are slated to be purchased by insiders of the company.

Star Navigations Systems Group Ltd. said that if the Air Asia flight that went missing had been equipped with its monitoring system, "it could have provided ground personnel with the original flight path, overlaid with the deviated flight path, as well as a display of the prevailing weather conditions."

EnWave Corporation said it has entered into a non-exclusive, ten-year agreement with Merck & Co., Inc. to test and advance its Radiant Energy Vacuum dehydration technology. EnWave may receive milestone payments as the project progresses, though financial terms were not disclosed.
