Wall Street retreated moderately Monday as investors readied for quarterly corporate earnings reports and cashed in some gains from last week's rally.   The Dow fell 36.42, or 0.26 percent, to 14,029.59.  Broader stock indexes also declined. The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 6.50, or 0.42 per cent, to 1,551.09, while the Nasdaq composite index fell 2.53, or 0.09 per cent, to 2,777.79.  Trading volumes were low, with many investors on the sidelines for the holiday. Declining issues outnumbered advancers by about 2 to 1 on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume came to 460.1 million shares.   Light, sweet crude tumbled $2.32 to $78.90 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
