Barrick Gold Corp. has been in the news recently for its failed merger attempt with Newmont Mining. However, what has received less attention is changes at the board level. At the company's April AGM, founder Peter Munk retired along with two other directors while four new independent board members where elected. The day before, executive board chair John Thornton bought 167,600 shares.
