Gold companies are scheduled to begin reporting 3Q14 financial results on Oct 23. We estimate 3Q earnings in line with 2Q, explained by production up 5 per cent, offset by a 1-per-cent decrease in gold price, while costs are estimated to be unchanged.

With one remaining quarter of 2014, we anticipate incremental insight will be gained regarding the ability of companies to achieve operating guidance. Companies where we see the potential for guidance reduction to be outlined in 3Q include Dundee Precious Metals (prev. disclosed) and Yamana. Beyond these companies, we see greater guidance risks for Alamos, Detour, Goldcorp (at lower costs), and Primero.
