The Canadian S&P/TSX composite index is entering another reporting season. 12 companies have yet to report in January representing 11 per cent of total market capitalization. This will be followed by another 140 index constituents in February and 89 in March representing respectively 68 per cent and 19 per cent of S&P/TSX composite market capitalization.

Earnings expectations: The S&P/TSX composite index estimate of net income for the Q4 2014 calendar quarter is $26,710-million which represents an increase of 5.2 per cent (Qt/Qt-4).

Sales/revenue expectations: The S&P/TSX composite index estimate of sales/revenue for the Q4 2014 calendar quarter is $286,983-million which represents a growth rate of +8.0 per cent (Qt/Qt-4).

Profit margin expectations: The S&P/TSX composite index estimate of profit margin for the Q4 2014 calendar quarter is 9.3 per cent, which represents a decline compared to last year's performance (9.6 per cent).
