The in-depth profile of Nigel Wright, Stephen Harper’s new chief of staff, has finally arrived, courtesy of Globe and Mail feature writer Michael Posner.
In the latest issue of The Walrus, found here, Mr. Posner doesn’t get access to Mr. Wright himself, but he does get in touch with plenty of Bay Streeters, and the view is pretty much unanimous: Nigel Wright is just fabulous.
Examples of the praise include Robert Prichard, chair of Torys LLP and former head of University of Toronto’s law school, calling Mr. Wright “among the very best and brightest of his generation.”
A few other tidbits you might not know: Mr. Wright is deeply religious and even contemplated joining the Anglican priesthood as a young man, and in his early 20s had dinner at Winston’s restaurant in Toronto, “holding his own on the finer points of church history with Conrad Black.”
Before becoming Mr. Harper's chief of staff, Mr. Wright was a managing director at Onex Corp. OCX-T
