BMO hires Bonnyman to fill hole in metals research

Globe and Mail Blog

BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. has hired veteran analyst Stephen Bonnyman to cover base metals.

Mr. Bonnyman, in the do-more-with-less world of Bay St. in a soft market, will be replacing two analysts that BMO lost. Nomura Securities hired away two BMO base metals analysts last year -- David Radclyffe and David Cotterell -- leaving the firm with a big hole to fill.

Mr. Bonnyman has 25 years of experience analyzing and picking stocks. In that time, he has looked at pretty much anything that can be dug out of the ground, from base and precious metals to fertilizer and uranium.

He has done stints on both the sell side, covering mining for RBC Dominion Securities and CIBC World Markets. He then moved to the buy side, first at Maclean Budden and then UBS Asset Management. (Have a look at his LinkedIn page here.)

BMO Nesbitt Burns is a unit of Bank of Montreal BMO-T .
