Catalyst Paper Corp. , which has been trading close to a year low of 6.5 cents, will hold a conference call on Tuesday Nov. 15 at 8 a.m. Pacific, 11.00 a.m. Eastern, to review quarterly results from the producer of mechanical printing paper, slated for release on Monday Nov. 14, 2011.

Junior miner Hathor Exploration may test a year high of $4.63 today after uranium giant Cameco Corp. increased its hostile bid for Hathor to $4.50 per share in cash, valuing the company at $625-million. This beat a rival bid from mining major Rio Tinto PLC. Cameco's higher offer represents an 8.4 per cent increase from Rio's keenly received $4.15 per share bid of last month. Cameco last bid at $20.03.

Auto parts manufacturer Martinrea International Inc , which closed up 16 cents or 2.3 per cent on Friday, will report its financial results for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 2011, at close of business on Nov. 14, 2011.



ProMetic Life Sciences Inc , which rose 1 cent on Friday to edge it futher away from a year low 9.5 cents, will report its financial results for the third quarter of 2011 on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 after market closing.



Mining company Malaga Inc. , which has been trading close to a year low 11 cents, announced today its results for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 2011. The company said it had a net income of $2-million for the quarter, erasing a year-ago loss of $0.9-million, which resulted from an average reference selling price increase per MTU of 89 per cent to $454 from $240 in the previous year and a $1.3-million gain on the revaluation of the warrants. Sales revenue were also up by 18 per cent to $4.6-million during the quarter.



Minera IRL Limited , which ended Friday's session at its 20-day average $1.09, announced today its unaudited third-quarter results for the 3-month period ended 30 Sept. 2011. The company said it had a net income of $3.5-million, reversing the previous year's $1.7-million loss, as EBITDA increased by 368 per cent to $8.6-million and after sales revenue went up over 47 per cent to $16.4-million. Gold production is ahead of budget at 9,718 ounces and up 11 per cent from 8,748 ounces in the same period in 2010, the company added.



Functional Technologies Corp. , which develops and commercializes proprietary, advanced yeast-based solutions, announced today the development of a third generation of its proprietary acrylamide-preventing (AP) yeast platform. The company said various improvements made to its original underlying AP technology have enabled the yeast's capacity to degrade asparagine, the rate-limiting precursor to acrylamide, to be accelerated and elevated. This latest achievement represents a significant advancement with respect to the timing and inoculation rates required to attain superior asparagine-reduction rates, the company added.



Cantronic Systems Inc. , which manufactures, distributes, and provides training and services in the fields of IP-based networked video security surveillance technologies, announced today it has been awarded a contract by China Unicom valued at C$2.6-million. The company said the contract is for the expansion of the city-wide networked video surveillance system to Kaili city, which is located in China's Guizhou province and subsequent maintenance service. CTS closed Friday near a year low 7.5 cents.



U.S. Silver Corporation announced today its financial results for the third quarter of 2011. The company said it ended the quarter with a net income of $5.2-million, compared to $0.5-million for the same period in 2010, as revenues jumped 136 per cent to $28.3-million. Cash flow from operating activities also increased to $5.4-million from the previous year's $1.8-million.
