Golden Minerals Company , which closed down by 1.5 per cent yesterday in moving closer to year lows, announced today the sale of its 1 per cent net smelter royalty interest in the Platosa property to Excellon Resources Inc. for $2.4-million (U.S.). At current metal prices, the Golden Minerals was realizing approximately $400,000 per year in royalty payments.



3MV Energy Corp. , which hit a year low of 80 cents on Wednesday, announced today the appointment of Curtis Schoenfeld as chief executive officer and president. The company said Mr. Schoenfeld has more than 19 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.



Absolute Software Corp. , which lost 1 per cent yesterday, announced today that it has partnered with InComm, a prepaid product and transaction services company.



Burnstone Ventures Inc. , which dropped 19 per cent yesterday, announced today the third and final set of assay results from the resampling program on its Tomichi copper-molybdenum porphyry project in Gunnison County, south-central Colorado.



Cayden Resources Inc. , which fell nearly 2 per cent yesterday, announced today new trench assays from the La Magnetita prospect at its Morelos Sur Gold Project. Highlights include 24m of 1.65 g/t Au, 25m of 0.72 g/t Au, and 25m of 0.52 g/t Au.



Descartes Systems Group reported 2013 fiscal first-quarter net income of $2.6-million, up 18 per cent from $2.2-million in the first quarter 2012. Earnings per share on a diluted basis was $0.04, up 33 per cent from $0.03 in first quarter 2012.



Sterling Resources Ltd. , which fell 4 per cent on Wednesday, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary in Romania, Midia Resources SRL, has entered into a contract with Grup Servicii Petroliere SA for the drilling of offshore exploration wells 'Ioana' in Block XV Midia and 'Eugenia' in Block XIII Pelican. In addition, Sterling provided updated Prospective Resources for additional offshore prospects.



National Oilwell Varco Inc. will buy CE Franklin Ltd. , which dropped 4.5 per cent to $9.35 yesterday, for $12.75 per common share.



Welichem Biotech Inc. rose 20 cents, or more than 70 per cent on Wednesday, after announcing that it and Stiefel have entered into an agreement for the acquisition by Stiefel of exclusive development and commercialization rights to an anti-inflammatory agent, WBI-1001, in all territories in the world outside of China, Taiwan, Macao and Hong Kong.



CanAlaska Uranium Ltd. said assay results for its Cree East Project show multi-element alteration halos.
