Leveraged ETFs are highly speculative. As such, they are better suited to sophisticated investors and institutions who trade daily. For these investors, the product can effectively hedge temporary unwanted exposures or cover cash calls.
But if you are a buy-and-hold investor, or a less sophisticated investor, beware. According to FAIR (the Foundation for Advancement of Investor Rights), these funds will likely lose money if you hold them longer term.
