Happy Creek Drills 40.0 metres of 0.32% Copper in 600 metre Step out at Highland Valley14:00 EDT Friday, June 18, 2010(via June 18, 2010 - Vancouver, British Columbia - Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSX-V: HPY, the "Company") is happy to announce preliminary analytical results from four more drill holes in Zone 2 on the Rateria property, Highland Valley area B.C. The Rateria property adjoins the property of Teck's Highland Valley copper mine, Canada's largest copper producer, located in south central British Columbia. The Highland Valley mine is currently mining material from three different open pits that average approximately 0.30 percent (%) copper. New results from drilling in Zone 2 include 40.0 metres containing 0.32% copper in R10-7 that is located approximately 600 metres northeast of R10-1. The bottom 205.8 metres of R10-7 returned 0.10% copper, with the final 16 metres grading 0.16% copper at 290 metres. A higher grade interval includes 2.5 metres containing 1.8% copper, 0.04% molybdenum, 1.34 g/t (grams per tonne) rhenium and 6.7 g/t silver. David Blann, President of Happy Creek states "With generally widely spaced holes the controls on the higher grade mineralization are still not well understood, however positive drill results now occur in an area over a kilometre in length, 700 metres in width and remains open in extent. R10-7 is thought to have increased the potential of Zone 2 to contain a significant copper deposit and further drilling is planned". Previous drill results from Zone 2 include 177 metres grading 0.37% copper, and 103.3 metres grading 0.34% copper. Higher grade intervals include 12.0 metres containing 1.38% copper and 2.85 g/t rhenium. Rhenium (Re) is a rare metal used dominantly in high temperature and strength alloys, and in catalysts for heavy oil refining, with prices ranging from approximately $5.0 to $10.0 per gram* over the past few years. Eight of the ten holes that are within Zone 2 contain narrower intervals of greater than one percent copper and wider intervals of variably lower and potentially economic grade copper. These results are thought to be comparable to early stage exploration results from other Highland deposits. R10-1 returned 85.0 metres grading 0.13% copper, 0.14 g/t rhenium including 37.5 metres grading 0.20% copper and 15.0 metres grading 0.21% copper. Further down hole an additional 5.0 metres returned 0.35% copper. Strong rhenium values were also obtained including 5.0 metres containing 0.49% copper, 0.015% molybdenum, and 2.25 g/t rhenium. This hole was drilled towards the east at -55 degrees from the collar of R09-06 (-65 degrees to the west) that returned 92.4 metres grading 0.12% copper including 1.5 metres grading 1.9% copper, 0.53 g/t gold and 9.0 g/t silver and 18.5 metres grading 0.20% copper, 0.048% molybdenum and 3.53 g/t rhenium. R10-4 (-75 degrees to west) is located at the collar of R09-7 (-55 degrees to the west) that returned 187.1 metres of 0.10% copper including 48.0 metres containing 0.30% copper. R10-4 returned 167.5 metres grading 0.13% copper including 30.0 metres grading 0.26% copper and 27.0 metres of 0.19% copper, 0.17 g/t rhenium and 0.06 g/t gold. Further down the hole, 2.5 metres contains 0.62% copper and 0.13 g/t gold. Hole R10-5, located approximately 300 metres north of R10-1and drilled to the east at -55 degrees, intersected 30.0 metres grading 0.10% copper within a broad interval of geochemically positive values. R10-6 is located approximately one kilometre east of R10-1 and returned several weakly anomalous intervals. Currently two holes have been completed in Zone 1 that is located southwest of Zone 2, and R10-12 is in progress. Previous results from Zone 1 include 0.29% copper over 100.0 metres, 0.58% copper over 37.0 metres and higher grade intervals include 2.5% copper over 5.4 metres. Analytical results for the remainder of drill holes from Zone 2 and Zone 1 are pending. On behalf of the Board of Directors, "David E Blann" ____________________ David E Blann, P.Eng. Aqua regia digest may be partial for molybdenum and rhenium. Results for copper, molybdenum, silver and rhenium are provided in PPM (parts per million or grams per tonne), with copper and molybdenum values converted to % by dividing by 10,000. Quality control protocol includes routine insertion of blanks, standards and duplicates in addition to the laboratory internal controls.
