Western Union and Family Dollar Sign Agreement to Offer Western Union® goCASHSM Service10:00 EDT Monday, July 26, 2010 ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (Business Wire) -- The Western Union Company (NYSE:WU), a leading global payment services company, and Family Dollar, Inc. (NYSE: FDO) announced today an agreement to offer the Western Union® goCASHSM service, a new U.S. in-lane money transfer service from Western Union, across 6,500 Family Dollar store locations. The agreement builds upon Western Union's go-to-market strategy in the United States, and complements Western Union's consumer experience by providing consumers the convenience of being able to send a domestic or global money transfer while shopping at a participating Family Dollar location. “Western Union sees the goCASH as an opportunity to strengthen both its relationship and value proposition with consumers seeking convenient options to manage their time, finances and money transfer needs,” said Carter Hunt, Senior Vice President Global Key Accounts, Western Union. With the goCASH service, consumers will have the option to select any of three send amounts $50; $100; and $200. A goCASH money transfer can be purchased for both domestic and international money transfers and be picked-up at any Western Union Agent location around the world. Once purchased in-lane, at a cash register, the sender will complete the transaction over the phone through a Western Union customer service representative and provide the money transfer information to the receiver. “Providing value and convenience have been the cornerstone of our business for more than fifty years,” said Robert Giles, Family Dollar Divisional Vice President. “Our relationship with Western Union reinforces that position and gives our customers another compelling reason to shop at Family Dollar.” Western Union announced last December an agreement to offer the Western Union® goCASH in-lane service through InComm, the industry leading marketer, distributor and technology innovator of stored-value gift and prepaid cards.
