Zebra Technologies Introduces the Industry's First Mobile Printing Apple® App09:00 EST Thursday, November 18, 2010 LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. (Business Wire) -- Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in specialty printing and automatic identification solutions, announced the release of its ZebraLink Utilities app for Apple® mobile digital devices as well as a Multiplatform Software Development Kit (SDK). The ZebraLink Multiplatform Software Development Kit is the first toolkit that allows developers to easily create iPhone, iPad and iPod touch apps that print labels, receipts or encode radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags directly to a Zebra Technologies mobile, desktop, tabletop or kiosk printer. With an increased demand for field workers to be connected and responsive, mobile devices have become critical to corporate competitiveness. The new utility on the Apple AppStoreoffers several exciting features including the ability to: print a PDF or label template directly to a Zebra printer via WLAN; retrieve and print files from the Web; take and print photos via WLAN; and check printer status and directly connect to a printer via Wi-Fi. “Zebra is continually investing in new technology to give our partners and customers innovative ways to use our printers. Creating the industry's first Multiplatform SDK and Utility is just another key example of Zebra's dedication to inventive solutions that keep our customers ahead of the curve,” said Leo Lowy, product manager at Zebra Technologies. “Mobility in the workforce is a top priority as we move into 2011, and the ZebraLink Utilities App and SDK will greatly help companies reduce cost and improve efficiency and worker productivity.” Through the ZebraLink Multiplatform SDK, developers can create a customized application that seamlessly integrates printing to meet their respective unique needs, saving companies time and resources. This advanced SDK includes source code samples, documentation and on-device demonstration modules for creating custom applications with embedded support for Zebra printers, making integration clear-cut and straightforward. Users have virtually endless application options including the ability to create applications to print a wide variety of content, including field service records, tracking tags, point-of-sale receipts, healthcare specimen labels and more. The new ZebraLink SDK will offer the market the ability to: encode RFID tags, using a RFID–Enabled Zebra printer; easily print multiple barcode types - UPC, EAN-13, Code128, SSCC-18, Code 39, PDF-417, DataMatrix and Maxicode; and auto-generate variable data entry forms on the iPhone®, iPad™ and iPod touch® using templates created in the free ZebraDesigner label design software. The ZebraLink SDK allows developers to create a print application on a variety of Apple devices for the following Zebra printers: Multiple printer models supported – XiIIIPlus, Xi4, 105SL, ZM400/ZM600, S4M, PAX3, PAX4, G-Series, HC100, MZ-Series, QLPlus –Series, RW-Series, P4T and RP4T.
