James Temerty Named Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year17:40 EST Thursday, November 18, 2010TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 18, 2010) - The Trustees and staff of Northland Power take great pleasure in sharing the news that James C. Temerty C.M., founder and Chair of Northland Power, was named Canada's Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year for 2010 at a ceremony in Toronto last night. The award recognizes Mr. Temerty's remarkable success in building a number of profitable and innovative companies in the high tech and energy sectors. "Jim's vision and leadership have driven Northland Power's evolution from a small company that built one of the first privately-owned power plants in Ontario into one of the largest publicly-owned energy developers in Canada. He has also given generously of his time and money as a major benefactor of many significant community institutions and causes in Canada and abroad, including leading the very successful Renaissance ROM capital campaign on behalf of one of Canada's largest museums," said John Brace, CEO of Northland. "We congratulate Jim on this achievement and wish him success in the competition for the World Entrepreneur of the Year award. The entire Northland family is proud of his accomplishments and appreciates his continued commitment to the success of the company." The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards honour the spirit and contribution of entrepreneurs here and around the world. Earlier this year, Mr. Temerty was named Ontario Entrepreneur of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year in the energy and natural resources sector, and he will be eligible for recognition as Ernst and Young World Entrepreneur of the Year at an awards ceremony to be held in Monte Carlo in June 2011.
