Zebra Introduces Industry's Most Rugged Route Palette for the Mobile Workforce09:00 EST Thursday, December 16, 2010 LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. (Business Wire) -- Zebra Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ZBRA), a global leader in specialty printing and automatic identification solutions, announces the release of their next version of rugged RW 420 Route Palette. This integrated carrying device is designed to work specifically with Motorola's new MC9500 industrial grade mobile handheld device. Ideal for route accounting, direct store delivery or field service and sales operations, the RW 420 brings efficiency and ease-of-use to field mobility applications, saving valuable time and money. “In addition to being the most rugged terminal/printer palette on the market, the new version of the RW 420 Route Palette is the only product compatible with the new MC9500 series of handheld terminals,” said Marty Johnson, Product Marketing Manager for Zebra Technologies. “Zebra's superior compatibility and broadest range of integrated carrying devices for Motorola products optimize direct store delivery operations providing unparalleled efficiency to the mobile workforce.” Designed to handle the harsh demands of mobile computing in the field, the RW 420 Route Palette is the most rugged of its kind, with an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP 42, making it resistant to certain environmental conditions, such as moisture, dust and dirt. IP ratings are developed by the European Committee for Electro Technical Standardization, specifying the environmental protection the enclosure provides. “The best-in-class ruggedness and durability of both the RW420 Route Palette and the Motorola MC9500 is the exact combination workers need to improve productivity and deliver results in the field,” said Jim Hilton, Sr. Director- Manufacturing Industry Solutions, Motorola. “Motorola's continued relationship with Zebra is a testimonial of our dedication in providing the most innovative, technologically advanced solutions for the mobile worker.” With a lightweight shoulder strap and solid handle, mobile workers can carry the Palette easily to customer visits – then cradle it on their arm like a painter's palette as they enter data, print receipts, invoices and inventory pick tickets, eliminating the need to search for separate mobile devices attached to their belt. Other key features include: Built-in DEX (Digital Exchange) interface – Allows for the worker to use the customers' IT system and download data about the product that is being delivered such as quantity and pricing. It also allows for a quick settlement or reconciliation between the delivering company and the location receiving the product. Simultaneous charging – Both the printer and handheld computer can charge simultaneously via a single source, so there's no need to purchase separate chargers, saving money and space. User flexibility – The easy device release allows workers to use the printer and computer individually, minimizing company downtime and spare pools. In addition, integrated feet let users stand the Palette up while they type into the handheld or perform other tasks. Separate versions of the RW 420 Route Palette are available to support the Motorola MC9500 series, MC909X-S, MC75 or MC-70 mobile computer. Available in North America, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and EMEA, the Zebra RW 420 Route Palette will be sold primarily through Zebra's vast network of channel partners.
