REITMANS (CANADA) LIMITED REPORTS DECEMBER SALES16:10 EST Tuesday, January 04, 2011MONTREAL, Jan. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Sales in December for the five weeks ended January 1, 2011 increased 2.3% while same store sales increased 1.3%.Sales for the fourth quarter to date, being the nine weeks ended January 1, 2011, increased 1.3% while same store sales increased 0.3%.Sales for the year to date, being the forty-eight weeks ended January 1, 2011, were $1,018,552,000 compared with $1,003,430,000 last year.In the fourth quarter to date, the Company opened 4 new stores and 2 were closed. Accordingly, at January 1, 2011, there were 981 stores in operation, consisting of 365 Reitmans, 161 Smart Set, 68 RW & CO., 76 Thyme Maternity, 22 Cassis, 165 Penningtons and 124 Addition Elle, as compared with 984 stores last year.All of the statements contained herein, other than statements of fact that are independently verifiable at the date hereof, are forward-looking statements.
