Arrow Electronics, Freescale and Linear Technology Add High-Performance Analog to the Tower System12:55 EST Tuesday, February 08, 2011 MELVILLE, N.Y. (Business Wire) -- Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) has teamed with Freescale Semiconductor and Linear Technology to launch the new analog peripheral module for the Freescale Tower System (TWR-ADCDAC-LTC), featuring high-performance data conversion products. As the latest addition to Freescale's Tower System development platform, this “analog playground board” offers greater flexibility for experienced designers and those learning analog design. The analog module plugs directly into the Tower System, and gives engineers the ability to evaluate and determine the best analog components for their designs. The modular and reconfigurable Tower System, combined with complementary RTOS, TCP/IP and USB stacks provided by Freescale MQX Software Solutions, allows designs to be proven before a prototype board is built, saving time and resources. As part of the Tower System, the high-precision analog module targets a range of industrial and medical applications where high-resolution analog components are key to design success. “At Arrow, we are always looking for innovative solutions that help our customers expedite the design and development process while adding value,” said David West, vice president of supplier marketing and asset for Arrow Electronics. “We recognized a natural fit between these industry-leading suppliers -- Freescale in embedded technology and Linear in high-performance analog and power, supported by Arrow's global engineering and supply chain resources.” “The analog playground board enables designers to evaluate Linear Technology's data converter solutions in a real-world environment, providing a versatile platform for fast time to market,” stated Bob Reay, Linear Technology's vice president of mixed signal products. “Beyond the onboard converters, customers can find an optimal solution from over 130 Linear Technology QuikEval™ demo boards that can connect directly to the board.” Freescale's John Weil, industrial solutions MCU segment manager, said, “The joint development of this Tower System module with Linear Technology brings analog expertise to the Tower System portfolio. Combine this expertise with total system solutions from Freescale, from cutting-edge silicon to world-class enablement, and customers can realize endless solutions faster than ever.” For more information, visit www.arrownac.com/analogplayground or call 800-833-3557. About the Freescale Tower System The Tower System is a modular development platform that helps developers quickly evaluate and prototype their applications. As they require more functionality and design capabilities, designers can easily choose from a growing microcontroller/microprocessor portfolio and add more peripheral modules to their Tower System library. Simply select the development boards, or modules, that will exhibit desired features and functionality, and experience easy implementation inherent with modular tools.
