MOSAIC DONATES $5.5 MILLION TO STARS IN SASKATCHEWAN
Wednesday, April 06, 2011
REGINA, April 6 /CNW/ - The Mosaic Company (Mosaic) is contributing $5.5 million to the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS). This contribution helps support the development of an emergency medical helicopter service in Saskatchewan.
"Investing in the health of Saskatchewan people makes sense," said Norm Beug, Senior Vice President Potash Operations. "Mosaic is excited to help bring STARS to Saskatchewan and we look forward to working with the Government, corporate partners and local communities on this important initiative."
The establishment of STARS in Saskatchewan will enhance Saskatchewan rural and remote communities' access to timely, critical health care. The implementation will see helicopter air medical services coordinated with Saskatchewan's existing ground and air ambulance services.
"Mosaic is committed to the health and welfare of our employees, their extended families, and all of the communities and people of Saskatchewan," added Beug. "Health and safety are a priority at Mosaic, so it's important for us to partner with the people of Saskatchewan as we grow in a sustainable and healthy way."
Mosaic's mission is to help the world grow the food it needs. The company has recently committed to growing its Saskatchewan operations and plans to invest billions of dollars. From now until the company's Saskatchewan operation expansions are completed in 2020, Mosaic will employ an additional crew of 1,200 contractors annually and 700 permanent, full-time positions.
