Federal Jury in New York Rejects Smoker's Claims11:49 EDT Monday, May 16, 2011 RICHMOND, Va. (Business Wire) -- Philip Morris USA (PM USA) said today a federal jury in White Plains, N.Y. rejected a smoker's lawsuit on the grounds that the smoker did not have primary lung cancer. “Today's defense verdict marks the first new individual smoking and health case tried by PM USA in five years anywhere in the country outside of the Engle cases in Florida,” said Murray Garnick, Altria Client Services senior vice president and associate general counsel, speaking on behalf of PM USA. “We believe the jury's verdict shows that PM USA continues to have strong defenses to these types of lawsuits.” The case is Grill v. Philip Morris USA, Case No. 7:05-cv-09174. ALCS Media Relations804-484-8897
