Smith as Chairman of Home Capital at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company following the Annual General Meeting held on May 18, 2011.Dr. Smith has served on the Board since 2007, the last three as Vice Chairman, and has been an invaluable contributor to the Board and the Company. He currently serves as President and CEO of St. Joseph's Health System, and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. Dr. Smith is a frequent advisor to the Ontario government and is a director and past Chair of the Ontario Hospital Association, an organization representing 154 public hospitals in Ontario.Dr. Smith has served on various public, private and philanthropic boards, and brings significant governance experience and keen insight to the role. He holds an ICD.D designation and has completed the Harvard Business School Corporate Board Effectiveness Program.
