GEORGE WESTON LIMITED FILES FINAL BASE SHELF PROSPECTUS10:17 EDT Friday, May 27, 2011TORONTO, May 27, 2011 /CNW/ - George Weston Limited (TSX: WN) ("Weston") announced that it has filed and received a receipt for a final base shelf prospectus.  The shelf prospectus has been filed with the securities regulatory authorities in each of the provinces of Canada.  This filing enables George Weston Limited to offer up to $1.5 billion of debt securities (unsecured) and preferred shares from time to time over a 25-month period from the date of the shelf prospectus.  Any issue of securities under the shelf prospectus will require the filing of a prospectus supplement that will include the specific terms of the securities being offered.
