Canadian Western Bank serves up lunch at the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre09:00 EDT Tuesday, August 23, 2011CALGARY, Aug. 23, 2011 /CNW/ - Canadian Western Bank (CWB) and the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre (DI) further strengthened their long-standing relationship yesterday through CWB's sponsorship of an employee "Volunteer Day". A total of 21 employees from CWB's Calgary branches chose to participate in this volunteer experience which involved a tour of the DI's downtown facility and an opportunity to serve lunch to DI clients.In addition to the employee "Volunteer Day", CWB recently made a $30,000 donation to the DI's Sundial apartments which provide affordable housing opportunities to vetted DI clients. Located in downtown Calgary, Sundial has 119 suites in close proximity to transit, shopping and essential services. Sundial offers resources and support to help tenants re-integrate themselves into mainstream society."We've been a proud supporter of the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre for years," said Glen Eastwood, CWB's VP & Regional Manager of the Prairie Region. Open 365 days a year, twenty-four hours a day, the DI sleeps up to 1,100 men and women per night and serves approximately 3,500 meals a day. In 2010, thirty-nine percent of the 8,500 unique individuals who used the DI used services other than shelter.
