(NYSE: RAI) announced that the Reynolds American Foundation will donate $250,000 to the American Red Cross to help provide relief to victims of Hurricane Irene that hit North Carolina on August 27. Seven eastern N.C. counties have been declared federal disaster areas. Damage estimates are still under way, but preliminary reports show that more than 1,100 homes were destroyed, with hundreds more damaged.
