The Mosaic Company Announces Preliminary First Quarter Earnings Summary in Conjunction With the Secondary Offering Related to S&P 500 Inclusion07:00 EDT Friday, September 23, 2011NET EARNINGS UP 77 PERCENT TO $526 MILLION EARNINGS PER SHARE UP 75 PERCENT TO $1.17PLYMOUTH, Minn., Sept. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with the announcement yesterday of a secondary offering of shares related to the Company's inclusion in the S&P 500 index, The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS) announced first quarter fiscal year 2012 net earnings increased 77 percent to $526 million and earnings per diluted share increased 75 percent to $1.17.  Mosaic's net sales in the first quarter of fiscal 2012 increased 41 percent to $3.1 billion.
