Family Dollar Appoints Edward Garden of Trian Partners to Board of Directors08:30 EDT Thursday, September 29, 2011 MATTHEWS, N.C. (Business Wire) -- Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (NYSE: FDO) and Trian Fund Management, L.P. (“Trian Partners”) today announced that Family Dollar Stores, Inc. has appointed Edward P. Garden, Chief Investment Officer and a founding partner of Trian Partners, as a director, effective immediately. He served as Vice Chairman and a director of Triarc from December 2004 through June 2007 and Executive Vice President from August 2003 until December 2004.
