Murphy-Brown's Don Butler Appointed to USDA's Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee06:00 EDT Wednesday, October 05, 2011SMITHFIELD, Va., Oct. 5, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Smithfield Foods announced today that Don Butler, director of government relations and public affairs for Murphy-Brown LLC, has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee (ATAC) for animals and animal products. The appointment was made by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Thomas J. Vilsack. Butler's appointment is effective Oct. 1 and will expire on June 9, 2015. Butler began his career in the pork industry in 1990 with Carroll's Foods, which was acquired by Smithfield Foods in 1999.
