(the "Company") (TSX: VIC, VIC.DB) today announced that its Westeel Storage Solutions division will open its first branch facility in Europe as part of the Company's strategy to expand its presence in the global market for agricultural grain storage and handling equipment.Located in Madrid, Spain, the branch will operate under the leadership of Antonio Benítez Kühl, Westeel's newly appointed International Sales Manager who will take responsibility for marketing, sales and application engineering activities in Europe. Mr. Benítez Kühl joins Westeel from a leading silo manufacturer based in Spain where he served as Commercial Manager and developed extensive experience and market connections."The European market for grain storage and handling equipment is estimated at $1 billion annually and by establishing front-end capabilities in Spain, we expect to significantly grow our share, enhance service to existing European customers and improve the connectivity between our Canadian-domiciled manufacturing operations and our international markets," said Colin Osborne, President and CEO. "This announcement is another important step in expanding our global reach through an active business approach that leverages our reputation, advanced manufacturing capabilities and leading brands to achieve organic growth."In addition to its new facility in Spain - which will open late in the fourth quarter - Westeel is the market leader in grain storage and handling in Canada where it operates five production facilities. In late 2010, it also formed a strategic alliance with Buhler Industries, manufacturer of the Versatile® and Farm King brands of agricultural equipment. Through this alliance, the partners are collaborating to maximize opportunities in the United States (where Buhler Industries has a leading distribution footprint) and Canada. More recently, Westeel added advanced elevator and conveyer grain handling systems to its offering in Canada through an agreement with Skandia Elevator AB of Arentorp, Sweden, Europe's largest manufacturer of advanced grain handling systems.Today, Vicwest Inc. delivers its products to customers in more than 30 countries and international sales represent approximately 20% of Westeel's grain storage revenues."Our new facility in Spain will serve as a gateway to Europe, allowing us to continue to build upon our relationships with existing domestic customers and create opportunities for new partnerships," said André Granger, Westeel's Vice President and General Manager.
