EVault Announces Grand Prize Winner of “Nice Save” Video and Essay Contest08:00 EST Wednesday, December 21, 2011 SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Business Wire) -- EVault Inc., a Seagate Company (NASDAQ:STX), today announced David Williams, IT Manager at Triad Resources, as the Grand Prize Winner of the EVault ® “Nice Save” video and essay contest. Williams' video described his work with the EVault team to save and restore critical business systems immediately after Hurricane Ike took down Triad's power for two weeks in 2008. EVault also awarded prizes to the following runners-up: 1st place winner: Steve Lee, FMN Technologies; 2nd place winner: Marni Scrivens, Clark Wilson; and 3rd place winner: Rowan Barker, Stannah. “As the IT Manager, I know that I can leave town in any crisis situation and have the company back up and running in a matter of a few hours, with our employees having full access to all of their documents and applications,” said David Williams, IT manager at Triad Resources. “The real IT heroes are the people who work at EVault. They are always there to help and provide the support necessary for their EVault solutions.” Triad Resources is based out of Houston, TX and specializes in direct hire staffing, managed contract staffing, and broad-based training solutions. To ensure that the company could continue operations in the event of a natural disaster, in 2008, Williams' IT team switched from a traditional tape-based backup solution to EVault SaaS for Cloud-connected data backup and protection. Later that year, Williams faced an IT Manager's worst nightmare; Hurricane Ike, the second most costly hurricane in U.S. history, struck the city of Houston and left its residents without power for two weeks. With the help of EVault's support staff and EVault SaaS, Triad was functioning the Monday after Ike's Saturday morning landfall. Given the severity of the situation, Williams decided to add even more data protection measures to Triad's IT services, implementing EVault Remote Disaster Recovery (RDR) Service. "The amazing team behind EVault loves to hear stories about our products helping customers keep their businesses running smoothly in the face of uncontrollable events, such as Hurricane Ike in the case of Triad Resources,” said Terry Cunningham, president and general manager of EVault. “Data is fundamental to every organization, and businesses like Triad Resources realize that managing that data in a secure, protected manner and having access to it at all times is paramount to ensuring continuity.” Williams' story about how he, along with the help of the EVault team, managed to keep his company running during a natural disaster received the most votes in EVault's Nice Save contest. As the winner of the contest he received a $500 cash prize and a trip for two to the San Francisco Bay Area, which included round trip airfare, a two-night hotel stay, transportation, and a meeting with the EVault executive team. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners also received a cash prize. The EVault Nice Save contest began on July 20, 2011 and invited customers and partners based in the U.S., U.K., and Canada to submit short videos and/or essays describing their company's dramatic data recovery story. Entries were received from July 20, 2011 through September 14, 2011 and the contest was open to the public for voting from September 15, 2011 to October 14, 2011.
