NEW YORK (Business Wire) -- This spring a beautiful tropical paradise will blossom with majestic

Gardens in Paradise will showcase a rainforest of treasures at five
Macy's flagship locations nationwide including Herald Square in New York
City, Center City in Philadelphia, State Street in Chicago, Downtown

through Sunday, April 7, 2012, these iconic Macy's stores will be home
to exotic floral displays that celebrate the remarkable beauty and
landscapes native to Brasil.

“This year, a tour through Macy's Flower Show is a tour through Brasil.
Our vast, landscaped gardens reflect everything from the dense
rainforests of the Amazon, to colonial Brasil, as well as the colorful
inner cities and the beautiful gardens framed by the starkly modern
architecture of Brasilia,” said Robin Hall, senior vice president of
Macy's Entertainment Group.
For more than 60 years, Macy's Flower Show has delighted generations of
floral aficionados with over-the-top presentations of lush gardens that
showcase millions of live flowers, plants and trees from around the
globe. Blooming in unison despite the various climates from which they
may originate, Macy's Flower Show offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to
enjoy these magnificent blooms together in an unexpected setting. From
store countertops to specially- designed architecture and full-scale
auditorium landscaping, Macy's Flower Show is presented in a unique
fashion at each of the five locations. For the first-time ever this
year, while Macy's flagship store undergoes a renovation effort, Macy's
Flower Show in New York City will be presented inside a magnificent tent
in the Broadway Plaza at Herald Square. Additionally, the floral
presentation at Macy's State Street in Chicago will sprout anew on the
ninth floor of the landmark store.
Showcasing the wonder of Brasil through lush tropical garden
presentations that depict its unique landscape, culture and famed
celebrations, Macy's Flower Show will be a feast for the senses. From
the Amazon rainforest and the samba pulse of Rio de Janeiro, to its
legendary Carnival celebration, a South American botanic wonder will
take root in the heart of the city. The design of this year's show takes
inspiration from the famed works of Brazilian landscape architect
Roberto Burle Marx. During his lifetime, Mr. Marx's nature-based,
modernist aesthetic brought splendor to international urban landscapes
from Copacabana Beach to Kuala Lumpur. This unique urban meets nature
combination will serve as a blueprint for the show's architecture and
landscaping.
Welcoming spectators to the gardens in paradise will be a stunning
multicolored 10-foot tall toucan. Regarding the jaw-dropping
centerpieces Robin Hall commented, “The signature of each of Macy's five
Flower Shows this year will be a huge brilliantly colored topiary toucan
created from organic materials like button flowers and exotic black
leaves that along with the glorious gardens will truly capture the
color, complexity and the diversity of this vibrant South American
country.”
In addition to serving as the official celebration for the start of the
spring season, Macy's Flower Show is also a prime showcase for some of
the nation's most renowned floral and entertaining designers. These
décor wizards will bring to life the rotating Flower Show favorite,
Bouquet of the Day. The one-of-kind floral creations are stunning
centerpieces that each convey the personal style of the designer,
whether traditional, contemporary or abstract. These limited-time
masterpieces are always a highlight of the show and will be in place at
all five shows nationwide.
The floral extravaganza also extends to some of Macy's famed store
windows. In select locations, the windows also will be transformed into
vibrant living gardens depicting scenes from Brasil's world-famous
Carnival. Extraordinary gardens will also sprout at various locations in
store including the Gucci specialty garden that will feature blooms
reminiscent of the signature scent from the new spring fragrances. The
Macy's Flower Show is also the perfect backdrop for two weeks of
in-store special events, including fashion shows, cooking demonstrations
and celebrity appearances that will delight floral fanatics while
celebrating the rejuvenating power of the season.
Free to the public, Macy's Flower Show will be open during regular store
hours.
Macy's Flower Show (NYSE:M) is made possible in part through
partnerships with NYC & Co., and Bachman's (Downtown Minneapolis). Flora
by Gucci, the Garden Collection is the official fragrance of the
Macy's Flower Show. For additional information about these events
