Launch of the new Mediasdiversite.ca portal11:12 EDT Thursday, March 22, 2012MONTREAL, March 22, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Today marks the launch of the new Médiasdiversité web portal, designed specifically for people from ethnocultural and Aboriginal communities in Québec, as well as persons with disabilities. This shift to the Web is an extension of the Médiadiversité project (previously Télédiversité), created in 2005 by Astral Media Inc. (TSX: ACM.A ACM.B) and Groupe TVA Inc. (TSX: TVA.B), a subsidiary of Quebecor Media. The new website offers Quebecers interested in the media industry a wide range of content, including a virtual job fair, a series of interviews and video capsules, as well as articles and stories on the trades and occupations in the industry reported by people passionate about their field. The site also provides tips for creators who want to improve their chances of having their artistic projects supported by broadcasters."This initiative embodies Astral's desire to fulfil its social commitment to cultural communities and, through this website, opens an ongoing dialogue between Québec's private media industry and people from visible minorities and the Aboriginal communities, as well as persons with disabilities, who want to pursue a career in media," said Hugues Mousseau, Director, Corporate Communications and Synergies, at Astral."After successfully organizing five annual editions of the Médiasdiversité event, the time had come to renew and update the project's format," explained Véronique Mercier, Director, Communications, at Groupe TVA. "The creation of a new portal reflects Groupe TVA's commitment to encourage the presence of cultural communities within its workforce, both on screen and behind the camera."Médiadiversité also benefits from the financial support and participation of Videotron, Groupe Serdy, Transcontinental, and TV5.About MédiasdiversitéFounded in 2005 by Astral Media Inc. and Groupe TVA Inc., Médiasdiversité (previously known as Télédiversité until 2009) is a forum committed to reflecting and representing cultural diversity in Québec's private media. Médiasdiversité is intended as much for media industry decision-makers as for members of visible minorities and Aboriginal communities, as well as persons with disabilities who are interested in media. For further information: Véronique Mercier     Director, Communications Groupe TVA Inc. 514 598-6335Hugues Mousseau Director, Corporate Communications and Synergies Astral Media Inc. 514 939-5000
