Totino's® Gives Away One Million Box Tops to Four Lucky Recipients of “Learn a Ton When School is Fun” Sweepstakes13:39 EDT Tuesday, March 27, 2012 MINNEAPOLIS (Business Wire) -- Today, after nearly one million entries, Totino's is announcing the last two winners of its “Learn a Ton When School is Fun” sweepstakes. Totino's is excited to celebrate the final winners who will use their funds to bring fun projects to life at their schools. Sandra Morris, from Gadsden Ala., is a winner of the Totino's(R) "Learn a Ton When School is Fun" sweepstakes. Mitchell Elementary School, will receive 250,000 Bonus Box Tops from Totino's - equivalent to $25,000 - to bring fun projects to life at the school. Sandra is the Box Tops Coordinator at Mitchell Elementary School and says they plan to use the winnings on fun new technologies - including new computers and iPad(R) tablets for each classroom. (Photo: Business Wire) Sandra has been collecting Box Tops for her coworkers' children for years and recently became the Box Tops Coordinator at Mitchell Elementary School. Having a rich history with the school – her children attended and now her grandchildren attend – she wanted to build the school's Box Tops program so the children and teachers could receive better supplies for learning and development. Since becoming the Coordinator in September 2011, the school has earned $2,700. “Fun is essential to learning. Children learn the most when they're having fun and they don't even notice it. The students have gotten so involved in collecting Box Tops and it's exciting for us to be able to give back to them. We want to reward the students and teachers who have been so dedicated to the program,” Sandra says. Mitchell Elementary School plans to use its funds on fun new technologies throughout the school – including new computers and iPads® for each classroom. John has been collecting Box Tops since his oldest son, now 15-years-old, attended Valley View Elementary School. His wife is the Box Tops Classroom Coordinator at Valley View and his youngest son is a student there. Over the years, the school has been able to fund great learning opportunities for its students, including music programs, reading specialists and technology time, through the Box Tops program. “I think having fun while learning is extremely important. I tell my kids to follow three simple rules in school: listen to the teacher, give 100 percent and have fun. We all do much better at things we enjoy,” John says. Valley View Elementary School is involving its teachers, as well as the parents of its students, to determine what the winning funds will be put toward. Some ideas being considered are getting more SMART boards for the classrooms – they're very interactive and encourage learning in a fun, new way – and more books for the reading program, a program the school has supported through Box Tops for several years. To celebrate the winners of the Totino's “Learn a Ton When School is Fun” sweepstakes, Box Tops for Education will be hosting a Twitter Party on March 28. Gerald Richards, CEO of 826 National – a nationally-recognized nonprofit whose model encourages collaboration and creativity in the learning process – will lead the party chat. Head over to the Box Tops for Education Twitter page and participate for a chance to win coupons and Box Tops for your school.
